Gate To The Light
At every gate to Angkor Thom there were these smaller side doors, seemingly to lead to the top. I remember how my stomach ached as I passed them. How I wished I had more time to climb those stairs. Maybe it would lead me to the top of the gates? Maybe I could have stood beside those coldly smiling faces of the legendary king, Jayavarman VII? The intricate carving of stone steps and door way was merely a glimpse of what's at Bayon Temple. I hope to show some more pix (later) of Bayon, where the all seeing eyes of 216 faces cover 4 directions and 54 provinces of the Khmer empire, and where all stone columns were decorated by dancing Apsaras.
